Roland Edzard (born in 1980) spent his childhood in the Algerian Western Sahara and in Alsace (France).

He studied Art at the Ecole d’Arts Décoratifs in Strasbourg (1999-2003) then at the Fresnoy - Studio national des arts contemporains (2003-2005).
Following his practice in painting, he directed videos and short films: Judas (2001), Dormeurs (2002), Ombre (2003), La Plaine (2004) and Yeux (2006).
In 2011, he directed his first feature film, The End of Silence (La fin du silence), with the actors Thierry Frémont, Maia Morgenstern and Marianne Basler, premiered at the Director’s Fortnight - Cannes.
